MAIN Hosts Awareness Program for Migrant Workers in Gujarat and Odisha

Awareness Program for Migrant Workers

In June, Caring Through Sharing’s partner organisation, the Migrant Assistance and Information Network (MAIN), conducted impactful awareness and capacity-building programs for migrant workers in Gujarat and Odisha.

Held across various districts of Gujarat, the training brought together 52 migrant labourers, primarily from construction and domestic work sectors. The participants came from both Rajasthan and Gujarat, highlighting the cross-regional nature of migration and the shared challenges faced by workers across borders.

The sessions focused on building awareness about labour rights, safety measures at workplaces, and access to social welfare schemes. Through interactive discussions and participatory learning methods, the program empowered migrant workers to voice their concerns and take informed, actionable steps.

A similar program was also organised in Kandhamal, Odisha, with a focus on empowering local migrant communities through information and training.

Such initiatives by MAIN are vital in equipping migrant workers with the tools and confidence needed to navigate their lives and livelihoods with dignity and awareness.
