Mining and Minerals

A mining site with machineries
Mining contributes 2.5% of India’s GDP. As the country aspires to become a five-billion-dollar economy soon, it intends to accelerate the extraction of its abundant mineral resources, mostly found in its predominantly Adivasi / indigenous pockets. The environmental and social costs incurred in this process have not been accounted for.

Mining and Mineral Network aims to make extractive projects and their implementation more just for people and environmentally friendly by engaging with project-affected communities, civil society organisations and promoters of mining projects through negotiations, including the state-assigned local administration to facilitate land-acquisition, environmental and social impact assessment before actual implementation of projects on the ground.
