Imagine a day filled with pride and joy- that’s exactly what transpired on August 7th, 2023. A group of 68 determined young Musahar women and girls from Madhubani District graduated from PRABHAT, a Jesuit Social Action Center in Bihar and a technical partner of the Jesuit Research and Development Society.

These young minds acquired valuable sewing skills from February to July 2023 at various tailoring centers located in villages such as Sarvaseema, Samiya, Lohana, Gopalkha and Wolipur villages of Jhanjharpur. These villages are situated near Kamala-Balan River embankments where villagers frequently face floods, unemployment and distress migration.

The graduation day buzzed with excitement as our graduates received certificates for their incredible journey. The event was filled with cultural performances and inspiring stories from trainees who gained confidence and freedom from poverty through the program.

However, there is more to this than just learning to stitch clothes; it’s about building stronger communities. Through stitching uniforms and collaborating with government programs, our graduates are evolving into economic and social forces that contribute to our nation’s development.

Thanks to your generous support, we are helping Musahar women weave their dreams into the fabric of reality.
