More than 200 children from nine Sankalp centres (supplementary education) celebrated the Children’s Day on 14 November in Kutiguda, Kandhamal, Odisha. Singing and dancing, quiz, speech, word-making with alphabets competitions were held for children.
Children from Padelipadar centre performed a dance based on the theme of ecology, which captivated the attention of all the audience. They bagged the first prize too. A third standard girl student from Madaguda Centre delivered a brilliant speech on Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru for which she won the first prize. Similarly, other competitions were held and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Teachers and headmasters of government schools from four Gram Panchayats too attended the programmes. They were spell-bound by the performances of the children of Sankalp centres. They shared that the students who are attending classes at Sankalp centres are performing better in schools too. This is the first time that such competitions have been conducted for students since the establishment of the Sankalp centres in Kandhamal district.
