Imagine being a school-going child and having to move with your parents, who are migrant workers searching for work. This means that your education will have to be put on hold, and in some cases, it might even be permanently stopped. It’s truly disheartening to see these children prioritizing helping their parents instead of going to school, which they rightfully should. Frequent relocations disrupt their schooling, making it challenging for them to receive a regular education, often leading to them being labeled as school dropouts.
But there is hope shining through the darkness. With your support, we can change the path of these children’s lives and provide them with the opportunity they deserve. Our partner organization, the Uddhar Vikas Sanstha operated by the Jesuits of Pune Province, work tirelessly to address the educational needs of migrant children who have relocated from Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
The Uddhar Vikas Sanstha’s goal is to offer preschool education to these children, giving them a solid foundation for a brighter future. Currently, we are providing education to 40 children divided into two age groups: 20 in the nursery (aged 3-4) and 20 in kindergarten (aged 4-5). These children attend the program for a nominal monthly fee, and after two years, with our support, they gain admission to other schools.
Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, we have been able to provide these children with textbooks, stationery, uniforms, and hot nutritious meals. Additionally, we have employed two dedicated teachers who educate the children in both English and Marathi, ensuring that they are on par with their peers in terms of learning and development.
Observing these children growing in confidence and forming bonds with one another is truly remarkable. However, our work is far from over. There are countless more children in similar circumstances who desperately need our help. We humbly request your continuous support to reach these unreached children and provide them with the educational resources they deserve.
